Emma’s Story

When Emma was younger, her parents struggled with alcohol addiction and often turned their anger on each other. Their repeated incarcerations for theft meant Emma was placed in foster care multiple times. The violence she witnessed and the pain of being separated from her family are now surfacing as self-harm, dishonesty, and signs of PTSD. Emma has begun counseling to work through these challenges.

But, because of Angels in the Outfield, Emma attends a weekly art class, giving her a safe space to heal and express herself.
